The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered 514 hectares of Indian hemp farms in Ondo State in the last two years.
NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, spoke at the destruction of 61,000 kilogrammes of confiscated drugs in Akure, the Ondo State capital. He described cannabis cultivation as a serious threat to food production. These farmers have found this illegal business more viable and are increasing production of cannabis instead of food crops.
Giade however, has expressed NDLEA’s determination to send drug barons out of business.
